Art of Innovation event
On Thursday, 27 August, Snowdome Foundation welcomed supporters, researchers and members of the Snowdome community to the National Gallery of Victoria for The Art of Innovation, an evening exploring the future of CAR T-cell therapy and the transformative potential of Australian research.
Guests heard from leading experts Dr Sam Fiorenza and Professor Jane Oliaro, whose work is helping shape the next generation of cellular immunotherapies in Australia. Through an engaging and insightful discussion, they highlighted both the remarkable progress already achieved in CAR T-cell therapy and the challenges that remain in making these life-changing treatments more accessible to the patients who need them. The conversation reinforced an important message: innovation does not happen by chance. It depends on sustained investment in research, collaboration across disciplines, and the support of visionary philanthropists who believe in what is possible.
The evening also underscored the vital role donor support plays in accelerating breakthrough discoveries, nurturing emerging talent and helping translate scientific promise into better outcomes for people living with blood cancer. As the field continues to evolve, research is creating new opportunities to make CAR T-cell therapies safer, more effective and available to more Australians.
Following the discussion, guests enjoyed an exclusive after-hours viewing of the CARTIER: Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® exhibition. The exhibition’s celebration of creativity, precision and exceptional craftsmanship provided a fitting complement to the evening’s theme. Much like the meticulous artistry behind each Cartier creation, advances in cellular immunotherapy are built through years of expertise, dedication and attention to detail. Both are reminders that meaningful innovation is rarely the product of a single moment, but rather the culmination of vision, skill and perseverance.
