Applications are now open for the 2025 Cannon Family Travel Grants

The Snowdome Foundation is inviting applications for the 2025 Cannon Family Travel Grants.

The Grants will provide financial support to two individuals actively engaged in the field of blood cancer research to attend an international conference, workshop, symposia or other professional event.

By attending an international event, recipients will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, exchange ideas, establish collaborations, and bring back valuable insights that can contribute to the advancement of blood cancer research in Australia.

Two successful applicants will receive $5,000 plus GST each.

Dr Bob Cannon OAM and Dr Jean Cannon first met while studying Dentistry at the University of Melbourne. They both obtained their Master’s degrees. Jean was the first woman in Australia to achieve her Master’s by research and the third woman to be awarded her Master’s degree in Dentistry. Jean then went on and trained as an Orthodontist.

Bob won a scholarship to study for his Doctorate in Dentistry in Canada and became a world authority in crown and bridgework. He was very innovative in the way he practised dentistry and in 1991 was awarded an OAM for his services to dentistry. Bob and Jean raised three children, Jill, Stuart and Andrew, and believed it was very important to give back to their community. They instilled this in their children.

In 2011 their daughter Jill was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and through Bob and Jill’s estate developed a travel grant award in their honour. The Cannon Family Travel Grants continue supporting important research into blood cancer.
