Researching a New Treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia

CAR-T cell therapy, a form of immunotherapy, is delivering great hope in the treatment of blood cancers. We are proud to support Dr Katherine Cummins, a Haematologist and Clinician Scientist, in her research project investigating immunotherapy as a treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia. Dr Cummins is our 2022 Gunn Family Women in Haematology Fellow, which is generously funded by the Gunn Family Foundation, in collaboration with Snowdome and Maddie Riewoldt Vision.

Based at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Dr Cummins is researching a treatment option that combines a monoclonal antibody, an established and proven treatment, with a new immunotherapy called CAR-T cell therapy, to improve outcomes for AML patients who relapse after initial treatment.
