Bloody Good Dinner 2019 – A firey night

There was much hype and anticipation around the ‘Bloody Good Dinner’ 2019 and for good reason.  We had Singapore’s hottest restaurant, Bunt Ends, with chef Dave Pynt fly out and cook for 623 guests at The Timber Yards.  From the minute you entered the venue you knew you were in for a fabulous night.  Smoky smells, open BBQs, fire twirlers and a romantic goth inspired hall left many in awe.

However, the real reason we were all there came through the heartfelt speeches.  Helen Gandel, Snowdome Foundation Board Member spoke of the impact hearing five little words ‘You have a blood cancer’ can have on those around you and the urgent need to fund more research.  Nick Riewoldt, Chair and  Director of Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision spoke passionately about his sister’s fight with bone marrow failure syndrome, but it was new mum Karen who left everyone speechless with tears rolling down their cheeks.  To be told ‘you have a blood cancer’ literally hours after giving birth, to go from the highest high to the lowest low, to hand over your new born baby so you can have a toxic therapy pumped through your body that prevents you from kissing, breast feeding and snuggling up with your little bub was nearly too much for most.  Sadly, this is the harsh reality of blood cancer and the reason we continue to ask for donations.  Quite simply, we don’t want people to hear ‘you have a blood cancer.’
