Australia and New Zealand have the highest rates of myeloma in the world
A recent study published in JAMA Oncology highlights that Australia has the highest rates of myeloma. More research into risk factors, causes and effective treatments are required as our population ages. The greatest increase in incidence came from middle income countries which may be more of a reflection on our ability to diagnose and treat myeloma. However it is evident that greater research into the etiological determinants of myeloma is required.
