The ‘Bloody Good Dinner’

What a Bloody Good Success!

Last year, we celebrated the outstanding achievement and collaboration of Snowdome Foundation and Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision via winning the National Charity Telstra Business Awards. To continue and strengthen this partnership, the Snowdome Foundation and Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision joined forces to create the ‘Bloody Good Dinner’.

Hosted at Melbourne’s historic Meat Market Pavilion, the fundraiser showcased Merivale’s newest restaurant, Fred’s chef Danielle Alvarez. It was nothing short of a unique culinary experience. Giving up his time to MC, Hamish Mclachlan was entertaining and had the whole room engaged from start to finish.

The guest speakers of the evening, were world class blood researches, Professor Mark Dawson and Professor Miles Prince. Both Mark and Miles spoke with an enormous amount of passion and motivation, as they explained the research project in detail and explained how this research can help save lives.

We are delighted to report that, we exceeded all expectations. Amazingly, the current tally is almost $400,000. We could not have reached this outstanding result without the generous support of our pro bono partners. 100% of these funds will be used to support a fellowship position for 3 years to conduct a world-first medical research project focussed on improving the outcomes of bone marrow transplantations.

This research project hopes to identify critical genetic factors (known as clonal haematopoiesis) that will contribute to greater predictability of a bone marrow transplant being successful. A comprehensive analysis of bone marrow transplant patients and donors for clonal haematopoiesis will be undertaken. Ultimately, saving more lives but also ensuring that the precious bone marrow donations are utilised in the best way to give patients the best chance of a successful transplant.

All in all, the night was an overwhelming success. A huge thank you to all that attended and supported this unbelievably worthy cause. We can’t express our gratitude but very much look forward to seeing you and those that were unable to attend, at the next ‘Bloody Good Dinner’.
