The Event

Imagine a fundraising event that you don’t need to leave the office for.

Imagine an event that unites Australian businesses.

Imagine an event that ‘makes hope real’ for Australians in the fight against blood cancers.

The Snowdome Foundation imagined it was possible. On the wave of a successful, first-ever virtual event in 2013, we did it again in 2014 and then again in October 2015 and are very proud and delighted to say that this year’s ‘Great Shake-Up’ has raised close to $400,000.

On Thursday 8 October at 12pm, the ‘Great Shake Up’ 2015 was web-streamed live to registrants across Australia. It is an hour long program designed to give participants/viewers a better understanding of the indiscriminatory nature of blood cancers, an empathy for those who are living with these horrid challenges and an insight into the desperate need for funding to continue the research work for new treatments.

Over 2,000 people tuned in to watch Hamish McLachlan host and present a program of heartfelt stories and medical information designed to communicate the need for cures and new treatments for blood cancers.

We are hopeful that our audience of registrants and their guests felt that the hour away from their desk was beneficial and informative. We are truly appreciative that they took the time to listen and watch.

Furthermore, we are humbled by the pro bono contributions from many parties who all make our unique event possible and subsequently ensure that almost all of the funds raised can be directed straight to our mission: accelerating new treatments for Australian patients to help them live longer, better lives. To Hamish McLachlan, AFL Media, Cisco, Viocorp, Village Roadshow and B2Cloud, words do not adequately express our gratitude.

The Team

The “Great Shake-Up” would not be possible without the help and assistance of many.  Our committees of hard-working individuals all devote their time on a voluntary basis.  Where possible we will try to secure services on a pro bono level.  The end result ensures that a very high percentage of funds raised are directed immediately towards strategically important projects that will help improve the lives of Australians living with blood cancers.

  • Ambassadors
  • Committee
  • We are ever so grateful to our Great Shake-Up Ambassadors for their advocacy and support. They have all been either directly or indirectly affected by blood cancers and share an understanding of the need to raise the profile of these cancers to ensure urgent funds are channelled towards better treatment for Australian patients.
